<a href="https://delimiter.online/blog/WordPress-guidelines-agent-memory/” title=”Automattic”>Automattic, the company behind WordPress.com, has concluded its Radical Speed Month initiative, releasing a series of new features and prototypes aimed at making the platform more flexible and useful for writers, developers, and creators.
The one month experiment, which took place in May and June, involved developers, designers, and marketers working openly to ship projects faster, prioritizing real world feedback over perfection. The resulting features span publishing tools, AI driven workflows, and developer environments.
Contextual AI and new desktop tool lead the list
A central theme of the release is the integration of AI with site specific context. Automattic stated that AI becomes more useful when it understands the user’s site, content, and workflow.
Among the standout projects is WordPress Workspace, a desktop application for Mac that brings AI assistance into the user’s daily workflow. Instead of switching between a browser and other applications, users can ask questions about their site, dictate notes, and transform text directly from the app.
Another project, WordCamp Agent, is a Telegram based assistant designed for conference attendees. It helps plan trips, browse schedules, and save notes from sessions, which can later be turned into posts. The assistant is powered by WordPress Guidelines, a system that stores instructions and memories directly inside WordPress.
Automattic noted that useful AI depends on structured memory, allowing the assistant to remember user preferences and support multiple tasks over time.
Developer tools and simplified publishing
For developers, the Blueprints Gallery feature within WordPress Studio allows users to launch preconfigured local WordPress environments. Automattic said this reduces setup time and enables faster prototyping and testing without sacrificing flexibility.
On the publishing side, several features aim to lower the barrier for content creation. Write offers a simplified posting experience with a minimal interface, allowing users to focus on writing before moving to the full block editor for more control.
Lately is a messaging first experiment that lets users create weekly letters through a conversational interface with WordPress Agent. Automattic said this connects lightweight idea capture with a publishing system the user controls.
A new short form social media theme enables quick posts such as links, images, or updates, mimicking the immediacy of social platforms while maintaining ownership of the content.
Social Feeds integrates Bluesky, Mastodon, and the Fediverse into the WordPress.com Reader, allowing users to follow, react, and publish from a single location.
User engagement and creative AI tools
WordPress.com Milestones celebrates user progress and publishing frequency, helping creators track their momentum. The company said the feature is designed to encourage habit formation.
Easy Site Editor is an experimental feature aimed at making site editing more approachable, particularly for new users or agencies managing client sites. Automattic stressed that while AI can automate tasks, the core editing experience must remain understandable.
Wapuu Studio uses AI to generate custom versions of the WordPress mascot from simple text prompts. Unlike the other productivity focused projects, this tool is designed for creativity and community participation.
A bonus feature, Clips, is set to be released soon. It will turn WordPress.com posts into short form video content, allowing users to repurpose written material for social media and promotional use without a separate production process.
Implications and next steps
Many of these features are currently in beta and actively evolving. Automattic said the projects reflect a shift toward lighter publishing, faster development, and more flexible creator workflows.
The company has indicated that most features are available now on WordPress.com paid plans, while others remain in testing. Further updates and the release of Clips are expected in the coming weeks.
