According to the report “Talent Signals Reshaping the Games Industry, ” 61 percent of respondents are concerned that generative AI will place them under pressure to work faster and produce more. By comparison, 35 percent think AI might cause them to lose their job or reduce demand for their role.

The findings were compiled by Tanja Loktionova, founder of Values Value and co-founder of InGame Job. The report draws on data from the 10th Big Games Industry Employment Survey. A condensed preliminary version has been released, and the full report is scheduled for publication in November 2026.

The results add to a growing body of evidence about how generative AI is reshaping the European games workforce. While job security remains a concern for a minority of respondents, the dominant worry is that AI will raise expectations around speed and output.

Concerns about quality and skills

The survey also examined broader professional concerns related to generative AI. Just over half of respondents are concerned that generative AI could reduce work quality. A further 46 percent believe AI makes it harder to assess actual skills.

Ethical concerns were less widespread. Less than a third of respondents, 29 percent, reported ethical concerns about AI, and 12 percent reported no concerns.

Changing working practices

The report found that generative AI has already changed how most respondents work. Overall, 78 percent said AI has changed their working practices. Within this group, 33 percent experienced significant change and 45 percent experienced some change. Only 22 percent reported no change.

These responses suggest that AI tools have moved beyond experimentation in many parts of game development, although the degree of change varies by role and studio.

Founder perspectives on hiring and team size

Company founders represented another key group in the survey. The report found that 35 percent of company founders have decided not to hire someone because AI tools could perform the work. At the same time, 48 percent of founders said their company is currently operating at a loss, and 60 percent are intentionally keeping their teams small.

The findings indicate that AI-related hiring decisions are being made alongside financial pressures for many studios.

Gamescom Dev survey comparison

The European data follow separate findings from Gamescom Dev. Its annual speaker survey results, released in the preceding month, found that 83 percent of respondents expected generative AI to impact team structure or

A new survey of European game developers has found that concerns about generative artificial intelligence are concentrated on increased workload rather than on job displacement.
