HONOR Unveils AI Robot Phone and Ultra-Thin Foldable at MWC 2026

At the Mobile World Congress 2026 in Barcelona, HONOR introduced a new strategy focused on embodied artificial intelligence, showcasing a concept “Robot Phone” and announcing its latest ultra-thin foldable smartphone. The announcements signal the company’s shift from traditional devices toward interactive, AI-driven hardware.

The company framed the launches under its new “ALPHA PLAN” strategy. This initiative outlines HONOR’s ambition to develop devices that move beyond conventional smartphone functions. The goal is to create hardware with spatial awareness and physical interaction capabilities.

Dancing Smartphone Concept

HONOR’s Robot Phone is a prototype device featuring built-in micro-motors. These motors allow the phone’s camera system to move physically in response to human gestures and commands.

The concept device can track users during video calls with precise motion, responding with nods or head shakes. It can also automatically follow subjects for filming and rotate its camera for cinematic shots. During the demonstration, HONOR showed the device dancing in sync with music, suggesting a move toward gadgets with more animated personalities.

The Robot Phone incorporates a 200-megapixel camera mounted on a miniature four-axis gimbal system. This mechanism is powered by HONOR’s proprietary micro-motor design. The technology points to a potential future where smartphones combine advanced AI with physical movement and environmental awareness.

HONOR CEO James Li stated the company aims to “give devices not only a brain, but hands and feet.” This philosophy is guiding its exploration of a new category of intelligent, interactive hardware.

Magic V6 Foldable Announcement

Alongside the concept, HONOR announced a major hardware launch: the Magic V6 foldable smartphone. The company described it as its most advanced foldable device to date.

The Magic V6 features an ultra-thin design, measuring 8.75 millimeters when folded. It carries an IP68/IP69 rating for dust and water resistance. A key advancement is its new silicon-carbon battery technology, which provides a 6,660mAh capacity within one of the slimmest foldable form factors currently available.

HONOR also previewed a next-generation silicon-carbon “Blade Battery” technology targeting foldable devices. This future battery aims to offer capacities up to 7,000mAh, addressing a significant limitation in the foldable smartphone category.

The Magic V6 includes dual displays with refresh rates up to 120Hz, a refined hinge mechanism, and AI-powered productivity tools optimized for multitasking on its large, unfolded screen. HONOR confirmed the device will become available in select markets in the second half of this year, with specific regional availability, configurations, color options, and pricing to be announced locally at a later date.

Expanding the AI Ecosystem

HONOR’s MWC presentation extended beyond phones. The company also introduced the MagicPad 4 tablet and the MagicBook Pro 14 laptop. Both new devices feature AI productivity tools and enhanced cross-device integration capabilities.

These launches underscore HONOR’s broader ambition to build a connected AI ecosystem. This ecosystem is intended to span smartphones, personal computers, tablets, and robotic concepts, with devices designed to work cohesively based on real-world user needs.

The showcase illustrates how smartphone manufacturers are adapting their strategies for the AI era. Rather than concentrating solely on software-based AI features, HONOR is investing in novel hardware experiences to differentiate itself in the competitive premium device market.

The Magic V6 foldable is scheduled for a commercial release later this year. The Robot Phone, however, remains a concept device with no confirmed production timeline. Based on the demonstrations at MWC, the company’s research direction suggests future mobile devices may incorporate more dynamic, physically interactive elements.
