Technology distributor EGE has expanded its portfolio by signing a direct vendor partnership with smartphone maker HONOR. The agreement, announced this week, grants the Staffordshire-based distributor access to HONOR’s range of smartphones, tablets, and AIoT (Artificial Intelligence of Things) products for the UK market.
Steve Hankey, EGE’s Head of Commercial and Vendor Management, stated the partnership reflects the momentum HONOR has built domestically. He noted that discussions had been ongoing, but HONOR’s recent performance and strategic investment in artificial intelligence signaled a significant shift. “With the investment into AI they seemed to shift gears,” Hankey said.
Market Performance and Growth
Data from the first three quarters of 2025 shows HONOR held a top-five position in the smartphone market across Western Europe, a region that includes the United Kingdom. The company reported its overseas shipments grew by approximately 55 percent year-on-year during this period. HONOR claims this represents the fastest international growth rate among the world’s top ten smartphone brands.
Hankey praised HONOR’s product development strategy. “Their products are amongst the best in the market and they seem to have a desire to innovate and create products that are more than just slight updates on what has gone before,” he commented. He cited the recent introduction of a handset with built-in micro-motors at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) as an example of this innovative approach.
Strategic Alignment and Future Plans
Nick Kyzer, Sales Director for Retail at HONOR, said the two companies have been on a similar journey in recent years. “This partnership will allow HONOR to bring our range of products to even more UK consumers and build on the brand’s success throughout 2026,” Kyzer stated.
For EGE, the deal is a channel expansion play. Hankey confirmed the distributor is looking forward to introducing HONOR products across all its sales channels, citing existing customer demand. The agreement follows a period of accelerated growth for HONOR, which has sharpened its brand positioning around premium hardware, AI-driven features, and distinct product differentiation.
A report by global technology research firm Omdia highlights the UK’s central role in HONOR’s international strategy as it transitions from an entry-level brand to a premium challenger. The company’s showcase at MWC 2025, which focused heavily on AI investment, is seen as a pivotal moment that helped it gain traction with operators, retailers, and distributors.
Forward Outlook
The immediate next step involves EGE rolling out HONOR’s product portfolio through its established distribution network in the UK. The partnership is expected to increase the availability and visibility of HONOR devices to consumers and business clients nationwide. Both companies anticipate that the collaboration will support HONOR’s ambitious growth targets for the UK market in 2026, leveraging EGE’s channel expertise and HONOR’s expanding, innovation-focused product lineup.
