Exertis Staff Secure New Roles with Vow Wholesale

A significant portion of the workforce from Exertis Supplies, a division of Exertis UK, will transfer to a new employer following a redundancy program. An agreement has been signed with evo Group‘s Vow Wholesale subsidiary to offer positions to staff who did not accept voluntary redundancy.

The deal, confirmed by an Exertis UK spokesperson, is expected to be completed within approximately two weeks. This development provides job security for employees affected by the wider restructuring of Exertis UK, which was put up for sale in December.

Background of the Division

Exertis Supplies, based in Huddersfield, specializes in supplying office consumables, printing hardware, furniture, and related products. Its sale was initiated as part of a broader strategic review by Exertis UK’s new ownership.

The distributor was sold by its former owner, DCC plc, to the private equity firm Aurelius. This change in ownership precipitated a major review of the company’s operations and its 1,200-strong workforce across the UK.

Details of the Agreement

Under the new agreement, all employees of Exertis Supplies who did not apply for voluntary redundancy will move to evo’s Vow Wholesale subsidiary. Vow is a leading business supplies wholesaler serving resellers and corporate customers across the UK and Ireland.

“We are delighted for colleagues who will now be continuing their employment with evo/Vow,” stated the Exertis UK spokesperson. The parent company, evo Group, is described as the UK and Ireland’s leading multi-channel supplier of business supplies and personal needs products, headquartered in Normanton, West Yorkshire.

Outcome of Redundancy Review

The workforce review concluded last week, with the company confirming that fewer than 400 employees will face involuntary redundancy. This figure is lower than some initial estimates, which had suggested up to 400 job losses.

The agreement with Vow Wholesale directly mitigates the impact of the restructuring on the Exertis Supplies team. It ensures business continuity for the division’s operations and maintains a skilled workforce within the business supplies sector.

Next Steps and Timeline

The transaction is anticipated to finalize within the next two weeks. Upon completion, the transitioning employees will formally become part of the Vow Wholesale team under the evo Group umbrella.

This move consolidates Vow’s position in the market and integrates the former Exertis Supplies operations into its existing sourcing, fulfilment, distribution, and logistics network. The focus now shifts to the seamless transfer of staff and operations, with both companies expected to manage the integration process in the coming fortnight.
