Channel services provider Giacom has appointed two industry veterans from Currys Business and Three UK to lead its mobile division. The company stated the appointments are part of its strategy to accelerate growth and expand revenues across its base of technology reseller partners in the United Kingdom.
The new hires are Abbie Buckland, formerly of Currys Business, and Paul O’Neill, previously with Three UK. Giacom’s sales director, Lisa Chapman-Smith, confirmed Buckland will serve as Head of Distribution and O’Neill as Head of Wholesale and channel partnerships. The moves represent an investment by Giacom to drive partner expansion and recurring revenue for the more than 6,000 UK technology providers that use its Cloud Market platform.
Strategic Expansion in Mobile Services
Chapman-Smith explained that the expanded leadership team is intended to help partners choose the right commercial model and scale their mobile businesses more effectively. She described mobile as one of the strongest revenue opportunities in the technology channel, but noted that growth requires focus, commercial discipline, and strong alignment with network providers.
“With our EE wholesale launch and new MSP Mobile programme, strengthening the team gives partners the expertise and support they need to grow faster,” Chapman-Smith said in a statement.
Backgrounds of the New Appointees
Abbie Buckland led national field and desk-based teams at Currys Business and brings nearly two decades of experience in communications and hardware. In her new role, her focus will be on new partner acquisition, aligning hardware and mobile offerings to improve partner margins, and supporting resellers in establishing mobile services as a core profit stream.
Buckland cited the clarity of Giacom’s vision and its commitment to partners as key factors in her decision to join the company.
Paul O’Neill previously led the indirect channel at mobile network operator Three UK. With over 25 years in the telecommunications sector, his experience includes network negotiations, channel performance management, and revenue growth strategies. His responsibilities at Giacom will center on improving wholesale and Internet of Things (IoT) performance, strengthening relationships with network operators, and assisting partners in developing recurring revenue models.
O’Neill commented on the significant scale of opportunity in both wholesale and network-billed models, stating that Giacom is well-positioned to help its partners capture a larger share of the mobile market.
Giacom’s Mobile Proposition
Giacom’s mobile offering to partners is structured around two primary models. The first is network-billed mobile, where partners earn commission and a share of revenue from network tariffs. The second is a wholesale mobile model, which allows partners to control end-user pricing and billing, thereby generating margin through mark-ups and white-label services.
The company’s Cloud Market platform serves as a central hub for these services, aiming to simplify procurement and management for technology resellers.
Expected Developments and Next Steps
With the new leadership team in place, Giacom is expected to intensify its push into the UK mobile channel market. The immediate focus will be on supporting the rollout of its EE wholesale partnership and the MSP Mobile programme. Partners can anticipate increased support in navigating the two revenue models, with the goal of driving faster adoption and scaling of mobile services across the reseller network. Further strategic hires or partnership announcements related to the mobile division may follow as the company executes its expansion plans.
